Record New York is an ongoing video series featuring raw and intimate musical performances in New York City (and depending on my travel plans sometimes other places as well).

My name is Stephan Knuesel. I am a documentary filmmaker (negativenothing.com) and music video director (knuesel.net). I love shooting music with a documentary mindset, improvising visually and reacting to the performance and the environment. Really embracing imperfections and hopefully encounter surprises as you might experience them in documentary settings. With Record New York I try to bring the excitement of a live performance onto the screen and hopefully capture a few special moments, creating my own record of New York. It’s a personal journey. More importantly though, I get to discover and share works of artists I love and which perhaps you haven’t heard of yet and that hopefully will entertain and inspire you as well.
